“On the Road” is a typical Sean Michael story, fully-fueled with two incredibly sexy men who love each other, frequently and passionately. But Sean also gives us an intimate glimpse into the lives of these travelin’ men, adding those perfect little details that flesh out their characters bringing them to life, giving them personalities and backgrounds, making this something more than just an erotic story of two men humping.
As the story opens and we’re introduced to our hunky truck drivers, Sean cuts right to the action by playfully demonstrating it’s not always all work for these men as they find time for some teasin’, aggressive play. Sean may have a gift for the characterization, but his forte lies in writing the deliciously hot man love, that just makes me squirm in my chair (to get comfortable) and loosening some clothes (it’s a little warm in here).
Kyle’s running and hiding from a painful past, partnering with Mike and taking on the job as truck driver for the distraction, desperately needing something to occupy his mind. But Kyle’s restless and the cramped space gets to him, then it’s time for another kind of distraction that only Mike can deliver. And that’s when Kyle’s a little tease, knowing exactly how to push Mike’s buttons, getting his partner all revved up with just one place to go.
Mike’s the boss man, hard loving, aggressive and possessive, and I usually don’t go in for all that alpha-maleness, but here it was seriously hot. As the owner of the rig Mike’s more driven, but he has his priorities and when Kyle has one of his restless moods, indulging Kyle takes precedence over everything else. Mike’s insecure at times because of his past failures, and he doesn’t fully understand Kyle’s restless moods which brings conflict between the two, but like true lovers they work through those times, adjusting and compromising and communicating, followed by the tender, reassuring moments that just melts me.
The story covers an undefined period of time, over several years giving us these little snapshot scenes of the two men together, including a well earned vacation in a cabin in the mountains, and a Christmas when Kyle’s painful past is fully explained with a special memory revealed. It’s moments like this that the author writes so well, a very beautiful moment that captures the true meaning of Christmas, because it’s not how you celebrate it, but who you celebrate it with. There’s a poignant, intimate moment between the two men here, the best part of the entire story and when the final barriers are down, it’s also a solidifying moment for their relationship.
Yeah, there’s a lot of sexin’ in the story, and even with all this intense passionate lovin’, there’s a playful tenderness between the two, with a true sense of falling in love. And I would like to add, we’re given a whole new definition to the, “Are we there yet?”
Highly recommend for Sean Michael fans and others who like their men hard lovin’ and passionate.
